Semios Wins British Columbia Technology Impact Award

Vancouver, BC– Semios, the provider of a precision agriculture solution to growers of tree fruits and tree nuts, is pleased to announce it has been named ‘Most Promising Startup’ at the 2017 BC Technology Impact Awards.

The TIA’s are the largest and longest running technology award program in British Columbia recognizing those companies with the greatest potential to impact their customers and the technology community in BC.

Semios improves sustainability and profitability through lowering dependency on pesticides, reducing crop management inputs and increasing the value of harvests through reduced loss or increased quality. Semios provides a comprehensive in-field installation of network and sensors, cloud-based machine learning and predictive analytics, service and support.

“We are driven by a passion to help growers produce a better crop by giving them the tools to dynamically respond to in-field changes by leveraging real-time data delivered to their mobile phone”, said Michael Gilbert, Founder and CEO of Semios.

Semios is in the exciting position of effecting positive change in an industry known to be risk averse, resistant to unproven innovation and technological adoption. The evolution of agricultural practices is paramount to achieving the greater yields and reduced environmental impact required to sustain a global population soon to exceed 8 billion. Constant assaults by indigenous and invasive insects, diseases, climate change and the loss of prime agricultural land mount daunting obstacles to today’s farmers.
