Locus AG Only U.S.-Based Finalist for Boldest AgriTech Global Award

Solon, OH (February 2020) Continuing its run of market-leading efforts, the Locus Agricultural Solutions® (Locus AG) CarbonNOW™ program has been selected as the only U.S.-based finalist in the AgriTech category for the global BOLD Awards, with public voting closing on Tuesday, February 4.

CarbonNOW pays growers for using regenerative agricultural practices that are better for the planet, people and profits, with reimbursement for all positive impacts made over the past four years and forward. The program also gives companies that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint a way to support these practices that, at scale, have the potential to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 4.7%.

“One benefit of CarbonNOW being a finalist for—and ideally winning—the BOLD Award for Boldest AgriTech is the awareness it brings to a global audience,” said Andrew (Andy) Lefkowitz, Locus AG’s Chairman. “The more people know about our breakthrough technology, the easier it will be to drive adoption at scale, which is critical to making an immediate impact in reversing global warming and keeping average temperatures from rising above 2 degrees Celsius.”

The certified B Corp™ gives farmers that enroll in the CarbonNOW program access to special pricing on Rhizolizer® organic soil “probiotic” treatments. The award-winning treatments won Best Biological Product of the Year for their proven ability to address sustainability challenges by maximizing crop productivity and reducing input needs while sequestering up to 9 additional tons of CO2 equivalents per acre annually. Farmers who use the technology to sequester carbon and ultimately create low- or negative-carbon foods, feeds and fuel, will get a new source of income as credits that can be sold on trading platforms starting with Nori’s Carbon Removal Marketplace. Companies and other entities can buy the credits to offset their emissions.

Now in its second year, the BOLD Awards recognizes top companies, individuals and organizations large and small from all over the world powering projects and initiatives that are global breakthroughs. By celebrating their BOLDness, it is hoped to inform and inspire others to follow suit and to be BOLD.

Thousands of submissions were received from the public and private sector, and projects were evaluated on: Level of Impact 40%, Scalability 30%, Transparency 20%, and H-factor 10% (Human & Social). Locus AG was the only U.S.-based company selected as a finalist in the AgriTech category. Winners will be announced in Venice, Italy, on March 27, 2020.
