FORT MYERS, Fla. and MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (AgPR) October 15, 2024 – “All systems are ‘GO’ for our meeting in Fort Myers,” says Dave Mielnicki, Newmark Valuation and Advisory, Clarkson, Mich., chair of the 2024 Annual Conference for the American Society of Agricultural Consultants. “We’re happy to report our hotel received no damage from the recent hurricanes that ripped through the area. This means our program is on track for November 3 – 5.”

“However, it’s important to note that last week’s powerful storm moved through key citrus-producing counties after making landfall in Florida Wednesday night,” Mielnicki adds. “According to reports we have seen, the hurricane came at the worst possible time for citrus farmers, arriving just ahead of harvest season.”

Citrus Expert Added to ASAC Program
That said, Mielnicki states, “We are expecting a very thorough briefing on the situation from John Kiernan, president and CEO of Alico Inc., one of the largest citrus producers in the United States. We had confirmed Kiernan’s participation at our meeting just prior to the hurricane striking. His original presentation title was ‘The Future of Florida Citrus: Challenges and Opportunities’ and it could not be more timely.” Kiernan will address the group just prior to the Presidents Lunch on November 4.

Deadlines Extended
The conference hotel, Crowne Plaza Ft. Myers Gulf Coast, has recognized that members would have taken a wait-and-see approach to registering during that final week leading up to the October 12 deadline, so they have extended the room block, ASAC discount, food and beverage count deadlines to October 21.

As a result, ASAC is able to extend the early registration fee to October 21 as well. The complete agenda and registration information is available at: www.agconsultants.org/2024_annual_conference.php.

Professionals attending the Nov. 3-5 conference in Fort Myers, Fla., will receive hours of top-shelf industry information, PLUS local agricultural property tours. Topics range from the changing legal landscape in agriculture and international citrus trade, to getting inside the head of an ag lender and consulting in an AI environment, to an overview of Florida agriculture and leveraging technology to build your brand. The roster of speakers includes 10 industry experts.
