AP government decided to organize AgTech Summit

The State government has decided to organize AgTech Summit as a calendar event following the success of the conclave in Visakhapatnam recently, according to Special Chief Secretary (Agriculture) B. Rajasekhar.

Addressing the media, Mr. Rajasekhar said the Agri-Hackathon, which was conducted as part of the summit, yielded the desired results.

The summit’s core objective was to bring cutting-edge technologies to small and marginal farmers.

The government received 259 applications from app developers located in 61 countries. Of these, 61 pertained to pre-harvest and 52 post-harvest handling. As many as 234 apps pertained to agriculture and 142 related to horticulture. Eighty apps were regarding livestock and 132 pertained to cross cutting.

In view of the inspiring innovations by the app developers, the government was contemplating conducting the competition once in two months, he said.

To take forward the objective of the summit, workshops would be conducted on November 28 and December 4.
